Aware of the problems and the need for establishing schools in Muntinlupa City, Mrs. Gertrudes V. Carlos, the founder, committed to make use of her compound for the site of the school and designated her daughter, Dr. Felicitas C. Rabonza, and family to administer and develop the Institution. The school site, owned by Mr. & Mrs. Antonio Rabonza, their children, measures 2,189 sq.m., for the Basic Education Department, 1,236 sq.m., for the College Department and the 2,009 sq.m. is for the future Sports Center expansion. All are near the Alabang junction and this makes it ideal for a school site. The school was conceived in the year 1983 in a small renovated garage, with one, small classroom for the use of ninety-one children enlisted in the Nursery, Kindergarten, and Preparatory levels. Since then, additional grade levels had been added each year. In June 18, 1985, the Pre-Elementary School was recognized by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports. In 1987, the school started to offer an Elementary Education Program. In the same curriculum year, the name Bernadette School for Children was changed to Saint Bernadette School of Alabang. In December 1989, the Elementary level was recognized by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports. School Year 1990 – 1991 marks a complete set of Pre-Elementary, Elementary and Secondary Education offerings of the school. The permit numbers granted are P-0012 85, E-0013 89 and S-018 91 for Pre-school, Elementary, and High School Departments, respectively. The school year 1996-1997 marks another milestone for the institution with the opening of the College Department. The name Saint Bernadette School of Alabang was changed to Saint Bernadette College of Alabang. In this school year, the SBCA truly responded to the three-tiered formal educational needs of the young: Grade School; High School; and College. The tertiary level premiere degree courses, BEED [Bachelor of Elementary Education], BSE [Bachelor of Secondary Education] with major field in English and BSOA [Bachelor of Science in Office Administration] were granted Government Recognition by the CHED [Commission on Higher Education] with GR# 069, GR# 070 and GR#077 series of 2001, respectively.
